Assessment Of Nurse‟s Knowledge and Practice Regarding Care of Neonate With Respiratory Distress Syndrome In soba University Hospital

Abstract

Abstract Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is a respiratory disorder that is specific to neonates it result from immature lung and a deficiency in surfactant, This descriptive study design was aimed to assess nurses‟ knowledge and practice regarding care of neonate with respiratory distress syndrome in neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in soba university hospital. The Sample of the study was50 nurses who were available during study period, the data was collected by questionnaire and check list and analyzed by SPSS program, the study showed that majority of nurses (70%) had bachelor degree and (64%) of them had no training course in NICU, more than half of study group (70%) had poor knowledge about ABG of neonate with RDS, (68%) had poor knowledge about RDS confirmation, (58%) of nurses had faire knowledge about management of RDS and (36%) had good knowledge and (42%) had faire knowledge about nursing action for neonate with RDS. The research reached into results which show that many nurses had poor knowledge and practice regarding care of neonate with RDS so the study recommends that continuous education and training programs is very important for nurses. المستخلص متلازمة الضائقة التنفسية (RDS) هي اضطراب في الجهاز التنفسي محددة لحديثي الولادة أنها تنجم عن الرئة غير الناضجة ونقص في الفاعل بالسطح ، وكان الهدف من هذا التصميم دراسة وصفية لتقييم المعرفة والممرضات والممرضات فيما يتعلق برعاية حديثي الولادة الذين يعانون من متلازمة الضائقة التنفسية في المواليد الجدد وحدة الرعاية (NICU) في مستشفى سوبا الجامعي. كانت عينة الدراسة 50 الممرضات الذين كانوا متاحين خلال فترة الدراسة ، تم جمع البيانات من قبل الاستبيان والتحقق من قائمة وتحليلها من قبل برنامج SPSS ، وأظهرت الدراسة ذلك غالبية الممرضات (70٪) حاصلين على درجة البكالوريوس و (64٪) لم يتلقوا أي تدريب بالطبع في NICU ، كان أكثر من نصف مجموعة الدراسة (70 ٪) معرفة ضعيفة عنها ABG من حديثي الولادة مع RDS ، (68 ٪) لديه معرفة ضعيفة حول تأكيد RDS ، كان (58 ٪) من الممرضات معرفة عادلة حول إدارة RDS و (36 ٪) لديهم معرفة جيدة و (42 ٪) لديه معرفة عادلة حول العمل التمريضي للولدان مع RDS. توصل البحث إلى النتائج التي أظهرت أن العديد من الممرضات قد ضعف المعرفة والممارسة فيما يتعلق برعاية الوليد مع RDS حتى الدراسة يوصي بأن التعليم المستمر وبرامج التدريب مهم جدا ل الممرضات
